Gunwi-gun rolls out Chuseok holiday plan

Daegu's Gunwi-gun announced Thursday it will implement a comprehensive Chuseok holiday plan through Sept. 28.

The plan covers 11 measures across four areas: public safety, resident convenience, the local economy and community outreach.

During the Chuseok holiday period from Monday through Thursday, the county will operate an integrated situation room to respond swiftly to emergencies and incidents.

On the safety front, the county will maintain emergency duty systems across all departments to prepare for disasters and infectious disease outbreaks, while strengthening monitoring systems for wildfire prevention and rapid response.

Emergency and after-hours medical services will also be in operation, and strict biosecurity measures will be enforced to prevent the spread of livestock diseases.

On the economic front, the county will monitor price trends for Chuseok staples, inspect compliance with price-labeling regulations and hold discount events to ease the financial burden on residents.

A local food direct-sales store will offer 20 percent discounts on premium Gunwi agricultural and specialty products from Sunday through Tuesday. The county's online shopping mall, "Ai Gunwi," will also run a Chuseok discount event on agricultural and specialty products through Monday.

In addition, roads and traffic facilities will be inspected in advance to ensure smooth travel for holiday visitors, while household waste management and environmental monitoring will be stepped up to maintain a clean holiday environment.

Information on emergency medical facilities and open pharmacies during the Chuseok holiday will be posted on the Gunwi-gun website so that both residents and returning visitors can access medical services without difficulty.

"We have put together a comprehensive plan spanning all areas of county administration so that both residents and returning visitors can enjoy a safe and comfortable Chuseok," Gunwi-gun County Chief Kim Jin-yeol said. "We will do our utmost across a wide range of areas — from accident prevention and economic recovery to sharing with those left behind — so that everyone can have a warm and happy holiday."
