Busan Chamber of Commerce, Busanjin-gu hold joint job fair

The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Busanjin-gu co-hosted the "2026 Second Busanjin-gu and Busan Chamber of Commerce Joint Job Fair" Thursday afternoon at the second floor of the Busan Chamber of Commerce building.

The job fair has been held since 2025 to help local companies fill vacancies and expand employment opportunities for job seekers in the district. Thursday's event drew 38 hiring companies and more than 600 job seekers.

In line with Busan's push to attract 4 million foreign tourists, the chamber replaced its usual manufacturing booths with a dedicated tourism and MICE pavilion. Eight hotels — including Josun Hotel & Resorts Busan and Banyan Tree Busan Haeundae — and 17 local tourism and MICE companies, among them Y Tour & Golf and Foryou Communications, participated in the pavilion.

A chamber official said pre-fair interview applications for the new tourism and MICE pavilion exceeded initial expectations, drawing about 200 applicants. A separate "local outstanding companies" section operated by Busanjin-gu District Office featured 21 manufacturing and service firms.

A job seeker support zone offered résumé photo shoots, personal color consultations, and hair and makeup services. A booth run by Dong-eui Institute of Science and Technology, offering AI scalp diagnosis and bioenergy measurement experiences, also drew praise from attendees.

A recruiter from the tourism and MICE pavilion said the surge in foreign tourists had made it urgent to secure workers with hands-on skills. "Being able to conduct on-site interviews with locally trained young talent at this fair was a great help," the recruiter said.

One young job seeker who took part in the on-site interviews said she had been hoping to land a position at a local hotel or professional conference organizer. "Being able to interview with multiple top companies in one place was a huge help in my job search," she said. "I hope I can put this interview experience to good use and land a job."

Kim Tae-gyun, head of the chamber's public projects division, said the fair was organized in cooperation with Busanjin-gu District Office to provide practical relief to companies in the tourism and MICE sector struggling to find workers. "We will continue to support efforts to close the job-matching gap between local companies and job seekers and inject vitality into the regional employment market," Kim said.
