Electrical and telecom firm led by Gwangyang chamber chief opens factory in Hwanggeum industrial zone

Local company Geoyang E&C expands and relocates factory as key Gwangyang steelworks partner

A mid-sized supplier to Posco's Gwangyang steelworks has invested 6 billion won ($4.39 million) to complete a new factory at the Hwanggeum industrial zone in Gwangyang's Hwanggeum-dong.

According to the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority, the completion ceremony was held Thursday, attended by Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority chief Gu Chung-gon, Gwangyang Mayor Park Sung-hyun, Gwangyang City Council Speaker Lee Gi-yeon and Geoyang E&C CEO Woo Gwang-il, who also serves as chairman of the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The electrical and telecommunications equipment manufacturer relocated and expanded its existing factory to the Hwanggeum industrial zone. The new facility covers 5,706 square meters and the company plans to hire 25 employees.

Geoyang E&C is a top-rated contractor and key partner of Posco's Gwangyang steelworks, and is also the first company in South Jeolla Province to join the Community Chest of Korea's "Nanum Myeongmun" program for exemplary corporate donors.
