Hanssem launches Timeless, Knob recliner sofas with low-profile design

Hanssem announced Friday the launch of two new recliner sofa models: the Timeless and the Knob.

The new products focus on a design that conceals the recliner mechanism — a look increasingly favored by consumers. Both models reduce the bulk and visible seam lines typical of conventional recliners and feature a low-back design that makes the living room appear more spacious when the headrest is lowered.

A low pillow-type armrest that supports the head and neck has also been added, catering to users who prefer to lie back on the sofa. The Timeless comes in two colors: red bean and white.

The Knob features a straight-lined silhouette with double-piping trim along the armrest and comes with a built-in lumbar cushion as standard. It is available in dove gray and white. Both models use natural bull leather from Italian manufacturer Pelle Milano.

To improve seating comfort, the sofas combine gradient pocket springs — the type used in mattresses — with high-density memory foam. The seat height has been adjusted to suit the standard Korean body type, and a 10-centimeter clearance beneath the sofa accommodates robot vacuum cleaners.

The furniture industry has seen a growing number of functional sofas that pare down bulk while maximizing space efficiency. As living rooms are increasingly used for work and hobbies in addition to relaxation, demand has grown for products that retain full functionality while blending naturally into the room like a conventional sofa — driving an expansion of that product category.

"We focused on achieving a clean design and a seating feel tailored to the Korean body type," a Hanssem official said.
