Off-duty officer booked for assaulting fellow parent at daycare

A serving police officer has been booked on assault charges after attacking another parent at the daycare center his child attends.

The Gwacheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said Friday it had booked a man in his 30s, identified only as A, who is attached to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, on assault charges.

A is accused of grabbing and striking the neck of another parent, a man in his 30s identified as B, near a daycare center inside an apartment complex in Gwacheon at around 9 a.m. on Sept. 9.

A had been dropping off his child when he ran into B, with whom he had a longstanding poor relationship, and the two got into an argument that escalated into the assault. B sustained minor injuries to the neck and received treatment.

Police said they received a report of the assault and that an investigation is ongoing.
