Soyeon, a member of girl group (G)I-DLE, has addressed rumors that she earns 1 billion won ($724,000) in royalties every month.
The singer appeared as a guest on Friday's episode of KBS 2TV music talk show "The Seasons — Sung Si-kyung's Gomaknambchin."
During the episode, host Sung Si-kyung introduced Soyeon's new song "Toesa Halgeoyeo" and remarked that her monthly royalties were rumored to reach as high as 1 billion won.
Sung then joked that she could afford to release a song called "I Quit" precisely because she was pulling in that kind of money each month.
Soyeon pushed back, saying the figure was a misunderstanding. "It got heavily edited into sensationalized short-form clips — in practice, it's nothing like that," she said. "If that were my life, I think I'd be so happy."
Sung drew laughs by responding, "Still, it must be a lot."
Meanwhile, Soyeon has been riding a wave of solo success since her return, with the title track "Toesa Halgeoyeo (Narr. Kian84)" from her first full-length album "Kkeutnaejuneun Insaeng" topping music charts.
