Jeonnam Dragons hold 'Yeosu Island Day' event with youth players and fans

Pro players pass on football skills to youth teammates

Professional football club Jeonnam Dragons took part in "Yeosu Island Day," a community outreach event held Sunday at Jinnam Sports Park and the main venue of the World Island Expo in Yeosu.

The event was organized to connect the club with residents of eastern South Jeolla Province — including Yeosu and Suncheon — beyond its home base of Gwangyang. About 200 people attended, including the entire professional squad, youth players and fans.

The first program, a football clinic held in the morning at the Jinnam Sports Park pitch, saw 32 Dragons players serve as coaches for the day, leading sessions for youth teams.

The clinic targeted 80 young players from Yeosu Mipyeong Elementary School and the Yeosu Ocean FC U15 and U18 sides, offering tailored skills instruction and position-specific drills to help the aspiring footballers build their fundamentals.

The second program brought players, youth participants and fans together for a visit to the World Island Expo main venue in Dolsan-eup.

Attendees explored the expo grounds at their leisure, learning about the island-themed exhibition and lending their support to the successful running of the international event.

"We will continue a wide range of community activities so that we can become a club loved by all residents of South Jeolla Province," a club official said.
