Seongnam identifies 17 unique venues to boost MICE industry

Seongnam announced Monday it is moving forward with a project to develop unique venues across the city as MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) destinations.

Unlike hotels or conventional conference facilities, unique venues are spaces that draw on a region's distinct cultural, historical, natural or industrial character to offer differentiated event experiences.

The city has identified 17 such venues, including Daegwangsa temple, the Saemaul Undong Central Research Institute and Saesori Mulsori.

This year, the city conducted in-depth consultations at five of the 17 venues — Hello Audrey, the Jaseng Medi-Bio Center, Daegwangsa, Saesori Mulsori and Seongeun Art Center. The consultations focused on analyzing each space's characteristics and conditions, and on developing tailored operations and marketing strategies to strengthen their capacity to attract events.

Next year, the city plans to select additional venues from those not covered in this year's consultations and continue the in-depth advisory process, gradually expanding the development program.
