Gyeongbuk Health College's smart logistics program opens admissions for 2027 academic year

The Smart Logistics major within the AI Convergence Department at Gyeongbuk Health College announced Monday that it is accepting applications for the 2027 academic year as the program steps up its industry-linked, hands-on curriculum.

The program's defining feature is its direct connection between classroom instruction and the actual job functions of logistics companies.

Partnering with logistics firms — including Coupang Inc's fulfillment operations — the program offers AI-based smart logistics management training, guest lectures by industry practitioners, site visits to logistics facilities and job-skills training designed to reflect real workplace conditions, all aimed at sharpening students' practical competencies and employability.

In line with the AI Convergence Department's framework, the program focuses on training mid-level managers who can apply AI and digital technology to traditional logistics management, producing field-ready professionals for the smart logistics industry.

The goal is to build core logistics competencies — including advanced distribution center operations and inventory management — while equipping students to navigate the rapid digital transformation sweeping the smart logistics sector.

The college also provides systematic support for obtaining industry-relevant certifications. Qualification courses include forklift operation, Class 1 drone piloting, distribution management, logistics management — a national professional license issued by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport — computer proficiency and AI certification.

The program has produced graduates who passed the national logistics management examination for four consecutive years, demonstrating sustained results from its integrated approach to major coursework and certification preparation.

After enrollment, students meet regularly with their academic advisors to map out their studies and career paths, and gain hands-on experience in logistics job functions through a faculty-student mentoring program and on-site industry training.

Through this structure, the college is reinforcing a step-by-step career and employment support system that moves students from admission through major coursework, certification and corporate field training to, ultimately, employment.

The Smart Logistics major is positioning its industry-partnership model as its core competitive advantage in recruiting for the 2027 academic year.

As the logistics industry rapidly evolves beyond simple freight delivery into an AI-, automation- and data-driven smart logistics sector, demand for field-ready professionals who combine technical skills with operational expertise is growing.

Bae Dae-seong, dean of the AI Convergence Department at Gyeongbuk Health College, said the program plans to further strengthen its training of practice-oriented mid-level managers who can learn both AI and logistics and build a competitive edge in the corporate field, starting with the 2027 academic year.

"Students who aim to work in logistics, or who are interested in the future of the industry as it transforms through AI and automation, will be able to systematically plan their major studies, certification goals, field experience and job preparation through the Smart Logistics major," he added.

Applications for the 2027 academic year are open through Sept. 30 and can be submitted online through the Gyeongbuk Health College website.
