Jongno-gu District Mayor Yu Chan-jong visited Tongin Market on Tuesday to check on local businesses and encourage merchants ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
The visit was aimed at monitoring prices of seasonal goods, assessing conditions at the market and boosting morale among vendors in the run-up to the holiday.
"We are continuously checking conditions on the ground to keep prices of chuseok staples from spiking," Yu said. "We will look after things carefully so that both merchants and residents can enjoy the holiday with a smile, and help residents do their holiday shopping without feeling the financial strain."
