German influencer throws punches, causes scene in heart of Hongdae

A German influencer who previously disrupted Seoul subway passengers by blasting music from a large speaker and dancing in train cars has now filmed himself throwing punches and kicks in the middle of Hongdae.

On Sunday, German influencer Streichbruder posted a video filmed in Hongdae to his TikTok account.

The footage shows Streichbruder setting up a large speaker in the middle of a Hongdae street and dancing to the music. At one point he ripped off his shirt, then began swinging his body wildly and shadow boxing at the air. He also repeatedly made threatening gestures toward passersby, causing some people to jump back in surprise or keep their distance.

Streichbruder has about 3.3 million TikTok followers and 1.25 million Instagram followers. His main content consists of videos in which he sets up a large speaker in subway cars, streets and public squares across various countries to play music, dance and perform backflips.

Earlier, on Sept. 5, he sparked controversy by releasing six videos filmed on the Seoul subway in quick succession.

In those videos, he played music through a large speaker and DJed or danced inside crowded train cars. When trains stopped at stations, he carried the speaker off and continued dancing and doing backflips on the platform.

The filming took place at Samgakji Station, Noksapyeong Station, Hyochang Park Station and Sinchon Station, among others. Some videos also captured passengers struggling to exit as he blocked the doorway.

He filmed similar content at Park Güell in Barcelona, Spain, where security guards tried to stop him but he ignored them and continued filming before posting the footage to his account, drawing further criticism.
