Chu Ka-eun, Hong Su-hyeon advance to mixed team air pistol final at Asian Games

Chu Ka-eun and Hong Su-hyeon advanced to the final of the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after finishing third in qualification.

Shooting at the Aichi Prefecture General Shooting Range on Friday, the duo combined for 582 points — including 23 inner 10s — to place third among 21 teams. Chu contributed 294 points with nine inner 10s, while Hong added 288 points with 14 inner 10s.

India topped the standings with 587 points, matching the existing Asian record while setting a new Asian Games qualification record. Iran finished second with 584 points, and Indonesia placed fourth with 580 points, also advancing to the final.

North Korea's Kim Hyon-suk and Kim Song-guk fell short with 578 points, finishing fifth and missing the final.

China, which had won nine gold medals, three silver and two bronze in shooting at these Games as of Thursday, was eliminated after finishing seventh with 577 points.

Starting this year, the mixed team air pistol final format changed so that the top four teams from qualification compete simultaneously.

In the final, each shooter fires 15 shots for a combined 30 shots per team before moving into single-shot elimination rounds.

The team in fourth place is eliminated after 36 total shots, the team in third after 42, and the two remaining teams shoot through 48 shots to determine the gold and silver medalists.

The final is scheduled for noon Friday at the same venue.
