Her first Asian Games appearance — she won the Asian Championships and National Sports Festival last year
Hwang Seo-hyun, a rising star in the balance beam event, claimed gold in women's artistic gymnastics at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Competing in the women's balance beam final Friday at Rainbow Hall in Nagoya General Gymnasium in Japan, Hwang scored 14.700 points — a difficulty score of 6.600 combined with an execution score of 8.100 — to finish first among eight competitors.
China's Qu Qiyuan took silver with 14.566 points, while Japan's Okamura Mana earned bronze with 14.300 points.
Born in 2009, Hwang previously won the balance beam at both the Asian Championships in Jecheon and the National Sports Festival last year. She earned her spot on the Asian Games roster in May through event-specific ranking points at the national selection trials, marking her first appearance at the Asian Games.
