Dalseo-gu in Daegu will host the 20th Dalseo Half-Marathon at Horim Gangnaru Park in the Seoseo Industrial Complex starting at 8 a.m. Sunday, the district announced Monday.
Marking its 20th edition this year, the event sold out every category on the first day of registration in May. A total of 10,455 runners signed up across the half-marathon, 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer categories after organizers set a final cap with participant safety in mind — a new all-time record for the race.
The competition will be held across three distances: the half-marathon, 10 km and 5 km.
The half-marathon is divided into four divisions — youth, senior I, senior II and women — and follows a looped riverside course that runners complete twice, with turnaround points at Gangchang Bridge and Taekyung Industrial.

The 5-kilometer event is a non-competitive fun run through scenic natural surroundings, including a cosmos-lined path along the embankment that crosses Daemyeong Reservoir and Dalseong Wetland.
To keep traffic moving and ensure participant safety, Dalseo-gu will impose road closures from 7 a.m. to noon at Gangchang Bridge, the riverside road, Horim Intersection and Wolseong Bridge.
Eight shuttle buses will also run for participants and volunteers — four from Daegok Station on subway Line 1 and four from Keimyung University Station on Line 2 — operating from 6 a.m. to 8:10 a.m. and again from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. after the race concludes.
"With a record-breaking 10,000-plus participants joining this year's event, we will do our utmost to ensure everyone can run safely and comfortably," Dalseo-gu District Mayor Kim Yong-pan said.
