Blackpink's Lisa makes history as first Asian solo act to win MTV VMA Best Pop

Blackpink member Lisa has shattered a long-standing barrier at the heart of American pop music, writing a new chapter in history.

Lisa took home the Best Pop trophy at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, held Sunday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, for her single "Dream" (feat. Sakaguchi Kentaro). The ceremony began at 7:30 p.m. local time.

She is only the second Asian artist to win the Best Pop award at the MTV VMAs, after BTS in 2020 — and the first Asian solo act and first K-pop solo artist to claim the honor.
