South Chungcheong Province deploys generative AI to support agricultural work

South Chungcheong Province has launched a generative AI-powered work support system designed and built by its own field civil servants.

The province's Agriculture and Livestock Bureau announced Monday that it has developed and deployed two systems: AgriBoard, which supports agricultural disaster management, and AgriMarket, which provides integrated information on agricultural product supply, pricing and retail.

Both systems were built using "vibe coding," a method in which field civil servants design the required functions, screens and data structures themselves, then use generative AI to write the program code and correct errors.

The approach allowed the bureau to turn initial ideas into fully independent work support systems now in active use. The team went beyond simply adopting AI-generated code as-is, refining each function and screen against three criteria: whether it met actual operational needs, whether staff could use it with ease, and whether all necessary information was accessible on a single screen.

The bureau plans to expand the initiative in stages, adding AgriService, a system providing rural lifestyle service information, and AgriLivestock, a system for monitoring and managing livestock supply and prices.

"This project is significant because it shows AI can be used not just for drafting documents or creating images, but as a tool to make work easier and more efficient," said Lee Seung-han, director of the Agriculture and Livestock Bureau. "We will continue integrating AI across our entire way of working to improve administrative efficiency."
