Jeju Air conducts medical volunteer mission in Mongolia with Open Doctors

Jeju Air announced Monday that it had completed its 29th medical volunteer mission in partnership with Open Doctors, a South Korean volunteer physicians' group, at the Bulgan Buregkhangai health center in Mongolia from Tuesday to Sunday.

A team of 35 people — including Jeju Air employees, Open Doctors medical staff and members of the public recruited through Jeju Air's official social media channels — provided medical services to about 1,000 local residents during the six-day mission.

Volunteers offered free consultations and prescriptions across internal medicine, orthopedics, anesthesiology and pain management, dentistry and traditional Korean medicine, while also conducting basic health education sessions to promote proper healthcare practices and improve the local medical environment.

The team also ran interactive programs for children, including face painting and balloon art. Marking the chuseok holiday, volunteers organized cultural activities for Mongolian children — hanbok (traditional Korean dress) try-ons, ddakji (a traditional Korean paper-flipping game) and hangul lessons.

Since signing an MOU with Open Doctors in 2011, Jeju Air has carried out more than 27,000 medical volunteer activities across 22 cities in six countries in Southeast and Central Asia where it operates routes.

"As an airline, we are not only connecting countries and regions but also expanding the points where people connect with one another, fulfilling our social responsibilities," a Jeju Air official said. "We will continue working with Open Doctors to visit destinations in need of medical support and carry out activities that provide real, on-the-ground help."

Meanwhile, Jeju Air has been pursuing a range of corporate social responsibility initiatives, including recently operating an aviation safety experience classroom at the 2026 Seoul Safety Festival, held at Yeouido Park and hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Fire and Disaster Headquarters.
