Daegu to host 20-day Fantasia Daegu Festa across city from Friday

Daegu will host the 2026 Fantasia Daegu Festa, a citywide celebration featuring 10 festivals running from Friday through Oct. 21, the city announced Monday.

The lineup includes the Daegu International Opera Festival, World Orchestra Festival, Daegu Folk Festival, Daegu International Healing Performing Arts Festival, Daegu Arts Festival, Daegu Lifestyle Culture Festival, Daegu Content Fair, a special exhibition at the Daegu Gansong Art Museum titled "Gyeomjae Jeong Seon — Painting Joseon Through Joseon's Eyes," the Dalseong 100 Grand Pianos event, and the Dalseong Contemporary Art Festival.

In keeping with the festival's slogan "Sound Spark," a succession of music performances is set to delight audiences throughout the run.

This year, the city extended the festival period from 10 days to 20 days so residents can enjoy the autumn celebration at a more leisurely pace, with the flexibility to explore individual festivals in depth or mix and match events to suit their own schedules and tastes.

A range of discounts and events has also been arranged for visitors. Gansong Art Museum and Daegu Art Museum will offer 30 percent off admission during the festival period, while the Daegu City Tour Bus downtown circular route will be available at a 50 percent discount.

Discounts will also apply at major leisure facilities including E-World, Spark Land, Daegu Aquarium and Nature Park, giving visitors more ways to enjoy the city alongside the festival.

Participatory events are planned as well. A "Space Passport Stamp Tour" will let visitors scan QR codes at festival venues to log their visits, while a separate event called "Ride Public Transit to Fantasia Daegu Festa" will reward those who travel to festival sites by public transportation.

The city said it hopes the initiatives will boost public participation and give residents and visitors a chance to experience Daegu's diverse cultural and tourism offerings alongside the festival.

"This autumn, all of Daegu transforms into one vast stage and cultural space," said Hwangbo Ran, director of Daegu's Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau. "We hope everyone comes out to enjoy a special autumn festival filled with diverse performances and content at the 20-day Fantasia Daegu Festa."
