50 temporary resident-priority parking spaces open Thursday at the Sindorim driving hagwon site; vacant spaces available for shared parking via automated response system
Guro-gu will open a temporary resident-priority parking lot Thursday, making use of idle land at the Sindorim driving hagwon site.
The project aims to ease chronic parking shortages in the area and improve convenience for local residents.
The district carved out 50 parking spaces from a portion of the site previously used as the driving hagwon's own parking area.
The spaces were designed with extra width to reduce the risk of pedestrian accidents and vehicle collisions. Preparatory work included repainting parking lines, installing safety measures at entry and exit points, restoring streetlight power, and putting up parking blocks and directional signage.
Alongside the resident-priority lot, the district will also run a shared parking service using an automated response system. When a designated resident is not using their assigned space, other residents may use it by calling the automated response number marked on the parking space floor to complete their booking and payment. The arrangement is expected to boost efficiency by keeping spaces in use even when their assigned holders are away.
"We created this temporary lot by making use of idle land to improve parking convenience for residents struggling with the shortage," District Mayor Jang In-hong said. "By running both resident-priority and shared parking together, we will help residents use parking spaces more efficiently."
