Head of Incheon Coast Guard station found dead at official residence; no signs of foul play

The head of the Incheon Coast Guard station was found dead at his official residence Monday, prompting a police investigation.

According to Yonhap, emergency services received a call at around 9:05 a.m. Monday reporting that Yang Jong-ta, the station chief, was not breathing at an apartment in Cheongna-dong, Seohaegu, Incheon.

Coast Guard employees had gone to check on Yang after he failed to report for work and found him collapsed inside the residence. Police arrived at the scene to find he had already died.

Police said they are considering the possibility that Yang died of a pre-existing condition such as a myocardial infarction, and will decide whether to order an autopsy.

"No criminal suspicion has been identified so far," a police official said.
