Military authorities have in effect concluded that a land mine explosion in the demilitarized zone in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, was caused by a North Korean mine.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff released interim investigation findings Monday, saying it had determined "there is a very high likelihood that the cause of this mine explosion was a North Korean military mine." The JCS said on-site investigation had not yet been completed and that additional sessions had been scheduled, adding that final results would be announced after an assessment with the UN Command.
