Yeongju holds sexual harassment prevention training for senior officials

Yeongju city in North Gyeongsang Province held a sexual harassment and sexual violence prevention training session for senior officials Monday at the city hall auditorium, bringing together 66 civil servants at the Grade 5 level or above, including Yeongju Mayor Hwang Byeong-jik.

The training aimed to improve awareness of sexual harassment and sexual violence within the organization, strengthen managers' responsibilities and roles, and foster a workplace culture built on mutual respect and consideration.

Park Yeong-mi, director of the Yeongju Sobaek Family Counseling Center, led the session. Her presentation covered gender sensitivity for senior officials, managers' responsibilities and roles in preventing workplace sexual harassment and sexual violence, and response strategies drawn from real cases.

Particular attention was given to how managers' attitudes and behavior shape workplace culture. A range of everyday scenarios was used to highlight the practical steps managers should take in preventing and responding to incidents.

"The attention and commitment of managers are above all essential to building a healthy and safe organizational culture," Mayor Hwang said. "I hope our senior civil servants will lead by example and help spread a workplace culture of mutual respect and consideration."
