Korea's safety agency reviews corporate health and safety disclosure system ahead of next year's launch

The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency held its third KOSHA ombudsman meeting of 2026 on Tuesday at its Seoul Southern Branch, reviewing the development progress of a corporate safety and health status disclosure system.

The agency plans to launch the service next year. Ombudsman members who attended offered recommendations to strengthen the disclosure regime's effectiveness in encouraging companies to voluntarily prevent industrial accidents. The agency said it will incorporate the feedback into both the system's development and the regime's operation.

The meeting also covered progress on other institutional reform tasks the agency has been pursuing. The KOSHA ombudsman is an external advisory body made up of outside experts who review the agency's projects, civil complaints and contract operations, and propose improvements to unreasonable policies or factors that could invite corruption.

Jung Hye-sun, the agency's standing auditor, said rule revisions are under way to strengthen the fairness of the research committee and private institution evaluation systems based on the ombudsman's recommendations. "We will also reflect the members' opinions in the corporate safety and health status disclosure system," she added.
