KEIT signs MOU with electronics research institute, trade security and patent bodies to bolster technology security

The Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT) has joined forces with the Korea Electronics Technology Institute and other organizations to strengthen cooperation on technology security.

According to KEIT, President Lee Yong-pil signed a Technology Security Center MOU on Monday at the institute's headquarters in Daegu with Kim Tae-woo, trade security policy director at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy; Noh Geon-gi of the Korea Electronics Technology Institute; Shin Jae-hyeok, acting president of the Korea Trade Security Management Institute; and Lim Yeong-hui, president of the Korea Intellectual Property Promotion Institute.

The event opened with a ceremony to announce the Technology Security Center's action strategy, held ahead of the MOU signing. Organized to mark the center's first anniversary, the ceremony shared key achievements and strategic priorities while using the MOU to deepen cooperation with partner organizations.

KEIT unveiled the Technology Security Center's vision — "technology security that drives recovery and growth, technology sovereignty that protects public well-being" — and presented three strategic pillars to realize it: advancing the system for identifying and reviewing nationally critical technologies, strengthening the protection framework for the nationally critical technology ecosystem, and deepening technology security linkages and cooperation.

Under the MOU, the participating organizations will cooperate in areas including preventing blind spots in technology leakage by linking technology security and trade security information, conducting data-driven technology reviews using patent and technology information, and identifying and advancing industrial security and protection technologies.

"Technological competitiveness is not complete simply by developing superior technology — it is fulfilled only when that technology can be safeguarded and continuously utilized," Lee said. "We will do our utmost to establish the Technology Security Center as the operational hub for industrial technology security."
