YouTuber who criticized Han Ga-in apologizes for 'reckless' decision to make shorts clip

Samangyeo TV, a YouTube channel that criticized actor Han Ga-in over her promotion of an oral albumin product, has apologized for causing misunderstanding with a follow-up clip.

The channel posted a statement Tuesday on its YouTube page, saying it was sorry "to everyone who felt uncomfortable because of this video, regardless of the reason."

In a recently published video, Samangyeo TV had called out the marketing and advertising practices surrounding oral albumin products and mentioned Han Ga-in in that context. In November 2024, Han had described the product on her own YouTube channel, saying it was "clearly effective when you are sick and cannot get an IV drip." Samangyeo TV argued that such claims were false, saying the product contained only about one-fifth the protein found in an egg and amounted to little more than a beverage. The channel also noted that searches for the product spiked around the time Han's video was posted.

After Samangyeo TV's video drew criticism toward her, Han apologized, saying she had been "careless in introducing a health-related product based solely on personal experience" and that the incident had taught her "how cautious one must be when passing on information based on subjective feeling without rigorous verification." She also said she had purchased the product with her own money and had not received any advertising fees or sponsorship.

Despite Han's explanation and apology, the controversy continued after Samangyeo TV edited the portion of its video featuring her into a separate shorts clip.

In its statement, Samangyeo TV acknowledged that it had "caused misunderstanding by cutting out the part about Han Ga-in and turning it into a shorts clip even after she had already apologized, rather than focusing on the core issue." It said the shorts clip had been set to private.

The channel added that creating the clip had been "an immature and reckless decision for a channel that should be focused on what really matters," and offered Han "a sincere apology for any unnecessary harm and hurt" she may have suffered as a result.

Samangyeo TV went on to say it had "vowed never to forget the weight of the microphone you have placed in our hands, yet immediately caused a problem," adding that it was "feeling deeply and painfully the extent of my own shortcomings and arrogance — just how heavy and frightening that weight truly is."
