Coupang Inc signs MOU with Daegu to support cultural, sports events

Coupang Inc announced Thursday that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the city of Daegu to support access to cultural and sports events.

The signing ceremony was held at Daegu City Hall, with Daegu Administrative Deputy Mayor Kim Jeong-gi and Jang Young-cheol, executive vice president of Coupang Inc's social contribution division, in attendance.

The agreement aims to expand opportunities for local residents — including children and teenagers — to experience cultural performances and sporting events, and to strengthen cooperation with the community.

Coupang Inc will support attendance at performances during the 23rd Daegu International Opera Festival this month, and plans to run a Daegu FC home-game viewing program next month. The two programs are expected to benefit about 1,600 people in total.

The company plans to expand its sports and cultural event support programs to other cities and provinces going forward.

"We hope this partnership will help Daegu residents enjoy a healthy leisure lifestyle and bring a measure of vitality to the city's cultural, arts and sports ecosystem," a Coupang Inc social contribution division official said.
