Promotions come about a month earlier than last year, making Hanwha the first major conglomerate to complete its annual executive reshuffle; the group says the early move is designed to get next year's key business plans running ahead of rivals, with defense affiliates emphasizing global competitiveness and Hanwha Solutions tapping six executives born in the 1980s
Hanwha Group has carried out its annual executive reshuffle at major affiliates about a month earlier than last year. The three keywords defining this round of appointments are global reach, performance and young leadership. The group promoted executives with deep business expertise and technical capabilities to accelerate its push into overseas markets, while also placing younger talent in key positions based on results and growth potential.
Hanwha Group's major affiliates collectively named 105 new executives effective Friday, according to industry sources. Hanwha Corp. alone added 10 people to its new executive roster. The company said the appointments are intended to reinforce management stability and field-level execution, solidify the foundation for sound management, and align with its medium- to long-term business strategy.
Defense affiliates tap talent to drive global expansion
Shipbuilding and defense affiliates focused on promoting executives capable of leading global business expansion and securing future growth engines, while also strengthening technological competitiveness and production and manufacturing capabilities. Hanwha Aerospace named 16 new executives, selecting candidates with business expertise and technical skills to execute its global expansion and localization strategy. "Through this reshuffle, we will accelerate our push into global markets and the development of best-in-class products to proactively secure a competitive edge," a company official said.
Hanwha Systems promoted five new executives, choosing leaders with proven expertise and leadership in their respective fields to drive future growth initiatives including global market expansion and AI transformation projects. Hanwha Ocean promoted 15 executives in total — six from research, design and production, and nine from business management and support. The company said it placed proven talent in key roles to pursue manufacturing and AI-driven innovation for improved production competitiveness and to establish a foothold in the North American market. The moves are aimed at building a management structure centered on global competitiveness, it added.
Hanwha Solutions, advanced materials unit tap six executives born in the 1980s in generational shift
The energy and materials divisions also made appointments based on performance and growth potential. Hanwha Solutions and its subsidiary Hanwha Advanced Materials named 10 new executives in total, six of whom were born in the 1980s — a move the group highlighted as a deliberate push toward younger, more dynamic leadership.
The companies said the appointments followed a merit-based principle that prioritizes business results, expertise and future growth potential regardless of age or seniority. They added that the reshuffle also focused on boosting organizational execution by placing in frontline positions those capable of driving change and delivering tangible results in a rapidly shifting global business environment.
Seven executives were newly appointed across four energy affiliates — three at Hanwha Energy, one at Hanwha Total Energies, two at Hanwha Power and one at Hanwha Engine. The four companies said they applied a merit-based selection process, placing personnel with demonstrated results in key positions to build the execution capacity needed to navigate an uncertain business environment.
Financial affiliates promoted 30 new executives in total — 12 at Hanwha Life Insurance, one at Hanwha Life Financial Services, seven at Hanwha General Insurance, three at Hanwha Investment & Securities and seven at Hanwha Asset Management. In the tech and lifestyle solutions segment, 12 executives were promoted across Hanwha M&S (three), Hanwha Vision (two), Hanwha Semitech (one), Hanwha Hotels & Resorts (one), Hanwha Foodtech (one), Hanwha Galleria (three) and Ourhome (one).
Early reshuffle sets stage for next year's business plans
Hanwha Group earlier promoted all three sons of Chairman Kim Seung-youn in a senior leadership reshuffle effective Aug. 1, which also included the designation of new chief executives at some affiliates. Eldest son Kim Dong-kwan was elevated from vice chairman to senior vice chairman, while second son Kim Dong-won, then president of Hanwha Life Insurance, and youngest son Kim Dong-sun, then executive vice president of Hanwha Vision, were promoted to vice chairman and president, respectively.
Hanwha said the latest affiliate-level reshuffle follows that senior leadership overhaul by placing operational leaders at the front lines of each business to execute global expansion and future growth initiatives, thereby strengthening organizational execution. By conducting the first major executive reshuffle among leading conglomerates this year, the group is positioning itself to launch next year's key business plans ahead of competitors even amid an uncertain business environment.
