Company joins Fakuma 2026 plastics exhibition
Materials targeting AI data centers, robotics on display
LG Chem will participate in Fakuma 2026, an international plastics trade fair held in Friedrichshafen, Germany, from Oct. 12 to 16, the company announced Tuesday.
At the exhibition, LG Chem will focus on high-performance, high-value materials solutions aimed at future industries — including AI data centers, robotics and high-function breathable films — going beyond its traditional automotive and electronics sectors.
The company will set up an approximately 70-square-meter exhibition space centered on "solution marketing" designed to address customers' core challenges.
The booth will be organized around three themes: "Cost Effective," featuring paint-free automotive materials and metal-replacement solutions; "Sustainability," highlighting bio-based materials and low-carbon solutions; and "Innovative," introducing next-generation engineering plastics technology for AI data centers and robotics.
More than half of the exhibition space will be dedicated to meeting areas for customized consultations and technical discussions with customers. LG Chem also plans to support customer development using its proprietary SISO (Simulation Integrated Solution) platform, which can predict and verify product performance at the design stage.
LG Chem plans to strengthen its push into the European market on the back of its differentiated materials technology.
Demand for lightweight, high-performance materials is surging across Europe as electrification and eco-friendly policies gain traction. Engineering plastics, which replace metal components to reduce product weight and improve energy efficiency, are seeing growing adoption in future industries such as automotive, robotics and AI data centers.
"LG Chem will lead the transformation of future industries and stay one step ahead of our customers by proposing next-generation materials solutions that deliver growth opportunities and differentiated value," said Lee Chang-hyun, executive vice president and head of LG Chem's Engineering Materials Business Division.
