Incheon Housing & Urban Corporation (iH) will open a section of the northern regional road serving Geomdan new town to traffic starting Wednesday, to ease congestion for residents.
The road is part of a key transportation infrastructure project linking Geomdan new town, Gimpo's Han River new town and the area near Ilsandaegyo Bridge, expanding the road network in the northwestern greater Seoul area.
Construction began in December 2020, with full completion scheduled for January next year.
iH decided to allow traffic in phases, taking into account ongoing construction on the access road north of Gamjeong IC.
Under the phased opening, one lane in each direction will operate between Daegok-dong and Ilsan, while all lanes will be open toward Bullo-dong. The speed limit on the section has been set at 50 kilometers per hour.
To facilitate the early opening, iH completed the installation of guide signs and safety facilities after consulting with relevant authorities.
The corporation also plans to station traffic safety officers at the site to prevent driver confusion and ensure safety during the initial phase of operation.
