Round 5 of Kumho FIA TCR World Tour held at Inje Speedium
Eksta S700 delivers stable performance throughout
Kumho Tire announced Tuesday that Round 5 of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour — an event in which the company participates as title sponsor and official tire supplier — concluded successfully at Inje Speedium in Inje-gun, Gangwon Province, from Saturday through Sunday.
The competition is an international motorsport event featuring top-level touring car drivers from around the world, and was held domestically as the main event of the 2026 Inje World Touring Car Festival. Round 5 of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour ran alongside Round 4 of the Hyundai N Festival, drawing strong interest from motorsport fans both at home and abroad.
Kumho Tire, as title sponsor and official tire supplier of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour, supplies all competing vehicles with its racing tire, the Eksta S700. The tire is engineered to deliver stable driving performance even under extreme racing conditions, including high-speed runs, sharp cornering and hard braking.
The Inje round featured qualifying sessions and three final races in which top-tier drivers competed fiercely. Mikel Azcona of BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse took victory in both Race 1 and Race 3, claiming the top spot at the Korean round for the second consecutive year.
Beyond the on-track action from world-class drivers, the event also offered a range of fan programs, including a "gridwalk" where attendees could meet racing cars and drivers up close. Thousands of motorsport fans visited the circuit, watching the cars at close range and taking part in driver autograph sessions and photo opportunities.
In Round 4 of the Hyundai N Festival eN1 class, held alongside the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour, vehicles fitted with Kumho tires claimed consecutive podium finishes, further demonstrating the brand's competitiveness. In Race 1, Lee Chang-wook of Kumho SL Motorsports — a team sponsored by Kumho Tire — started from pole position and led wire to wire for a pole-to-win result, while Kim Jin-su of the Watercue Irain Racing Team finished third.
In Race 2, vehicles on Kumho tires swept all three podium positions, proving the performance of the company's electric vehicle-dedicated racing tires.
Marcello Lotti, chairman of WSC Group, said he was "very pleased to have successfully hosted the Korean round of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour." He added that through the partnership with Kumho Tire as title sponsor and official tire supplier, the organization would "continue to strengthen the competitiveness of the TCR World Tour and the fan experience, and deliver even more exciting racing to motorsport fans in Korea and around the world."
Yoon Min-seok, executive vice president of Kumho Tire's global marketing division, said it was meaningful to have successfully concluded the domestic round of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour, which draws the world's top drivers, and to have showcased Kumho Tire's technological capabilities to global motorsport fans. "We will continue to strengthen our racing technology through various motorsport activities and translate that into high-performance product development and tire technology for our customers," he said.
Meanwhile, Kumho Tire continues to support the expansion of motorsport through a range of activities, including team sponsorships and tire provision.
Last month, Kumho SL Motorsports, sponsored by Kumho Tire, secured a double podium finish in Round 6 of the Toyota Gazoo Racing 6000 class at the 2026 O-NE Super Race Championship, held at Korea International Circuit in Yeongam-gun, South Jeolla Province, clinching the overall championship title for the second consecutive year ahead of schedule.
