Service covers KOSPI 200, Kosdaq 150 constituents
Orders accepted around the clock; minimum trade of 1,000 won
iM Securities on Tuesday launched a fractional share trading service for domestic stocks, allowing investors to buy less than one full share at a time. The service aims to lower the financial barrier to investing in high-priced stocks.
The service covers stocks listed in the KOSPI 200 and Kosdaq 150 indexes, excluding stocks under market measures and ETFs. The minimum transaction amount is 1,000 won, with trades placed in multiples of 1,000 won. Orders can be submitted around the clock, and iM Securities aggregates investor orders four times a day for batch execution and distribution.
If an investor's fractional holdings accumulate to one full share or more, the position is automatically converted to a whole share without a separate application.
iM Securities is also applying fractional trading to its domestic stock accumulation service, a regular investment plan that lets investors automatically purchase a set amount of a stock on a designated date.
The minimum subscription per stock is 1,000 won, in multiples of 1,000 won, and investors can subscribe to up to 10 stocks per account.
In addition, iM Securities already offers fractional trading and an accumulation service for US stocks. Both services are available through the iM Securities mobile trading system after registering a trading agreement.
"We have broadened customer choice so that investors can put money into the domestic stocks they want, regardless of the size of their investment," a company official said. "We will continue to provide services that make it easy for customers to start investing and to keep at it conveniently."
iM Securities is also expanding its digital content presence, running a daily-life comic series called "iM_" on Instagram and a podcast-style program featuring in-house analysts, "iM Lenz," on YouTube — both aimed at reaching more investors through diverse content.
