Sweet potato festival, ESG fair, children's art contest among highlights;
exhibitions and camping programs to run throughout October
BS Group announced Wednesday that Sani Garden, a private botanical garden it operates at Sollasido in Haenam, South Jeolla Province, will hold its signature autumn event, Garden Festa 2026, from Oct. 17 to 18.
The festival will kick off a month-long lineup of autumn programming at Sani Garden, including cultural and art exhibitions and camping events running throughout October.
This year's Garden Festa centers on sweet potatoes — one of Haenam's signature agricultural products — under the banner of a "Sweet Potato Garden Festival." Visitors can dig up sweet potatoes themselves, browse a sweet potato pop-up store, and watch children compete in the third Sani Garden Children's Art Contest, in which young participants draw their visions of gardens and nature's future.
Community and environmental programs will also be on offer. A second ESG Fair, co-hosted with the South Jeolla-Gwangju ESG Association, will feature hands-on and promotional booths centered on sustainability. On Oct. 18, a 2-kilometer family marathon course will run at Sani Garden in conjunction with a marathon organized by Mokpo MBC.
Cultural and art exhibitions will continue through the end of the month. The garden's Garden Museum will host a solo exhibition by designer Park Ju-seok, titled "Autobiography of Humanity," through Oct. 30. The show reinterprets the values of traditional culture through contemporary graphic design, weaving the spirit of connection, circulation and coexistence found in the folk dance Ganggangsullae together with the concept of nature intelligence to offer a fresh perspective on the relationship between nature and civilization.
From Oct. 23 to 25, a two-night, three-day Sani Garden Camping Festa will take over the grounds. Campers can enjoy live performances, barbecues and a starlit garden walk, and a dedicated relaxation zone — themed around the idea of "zoning out in Haenam" — will be set up in partnership with the Haenam Culture and Tourism Foundation's Haemeong Project. Evening programs, including a flea market, will run until 8 p.m. throughout the camping event.
"We have put together a diverse lineup — from hands-on activities and exhibitions to camping — so that families can fully enjoy autumn," a BS Group official said. "We will work to make Sani Garden a comfortable retreat for tourists visiting Haenam, while also contributing to the revitalization of local tourism and the regional economy."
Sani Garden is a private botanical garden developed by BS Group at Sollasido, featuring 15 themed gardens and more than 1,000 rare plant species. BS Group, whose core businesses span construction, real estate development and energy, is developing Sollasido — an energy-focused future city — across the Haenam and Yeongam areas of South Jeolla Province.
