TIGER US Dollar Short-Term Bond Active: 732 billion won
TIGER US Ultra Short-Term (3-month or less) Treasury: 389.2 billion won
Products invest in US Treasurys, corporate bonds; currency-exposed ETFs
Mirae Asset Global Investments announced Thursday that the combined assets under management of its two dollar short-term asset ETFs have surpassed 1 trillion won ($747 million).
According to Korea Exchange, the AUM of the TIGER US Dollar Short-Term Bond Active and the TIGER US Ultra Short-Term (3-month or less) Treasury stood at 732 billion won and 389.2 billion won, respectively, as of Wednesday. Their combined AUM reached 1.12 trillion won.
Both products are ETFs that invest in dollar-denominated assets while seeking short-term interest income. They are designed for investors looking to hold US dollar assets in Korean won and park short-term funds. As currency-exposed ETFs, they can generate exchange-rate gains when the won-dollar rate rises and incur losses when it falls.
The TIGER US Dollar Short-Term Bond Active invests in US Treasurys and investment-grade corporate bonds, incorporating high-quality corporate debt to pursue relatively higher interest income.
The TIGER US Ultra Short-Term (3-month or less) Treasury invests in US government bonds with a remaining maturity of three months or less, operating similarly to SGOV, a leading US ultra-short Treasury ETF. Its defining feature is a concentrated focus on US government-issued bonds, reducing exposure to individual corporate credit risk.
Mirae Asset Global Investments advised that investors seeking relatively higher interest income may consider the TIGER US Dollar Short-Term Bond Active, which draws on investment-grade credit, while those who prioritize the creditworthiness of the US government may opt for the TIGER US Ultra Short-Term (3-month or less) Treasury.
"The dollar is not simply an asset for betting on exchange-rate appreciation — it is one of the core assets that should be considered in any portfolio," said Kim Dong-myung, head of the bond ETF management division at Mirae Asset Global Investments. "We will continue to strengthen TIGER's differentiated product lineup so that investors can hold dollars efficiently according to their own investment objectives."
