Screen golf company Golfzon will host an event in which professional golfer Kim Hong-taek takes on up to 2,000 amateur players simultaneously through its simulator network.
Golfzon announced Thursday that it will hold the "Volvik Apparel Pro vs. Amateur" event featuring Kim on Monday at 6:30 p.m. The competition will be livestreamed on Golfzon's YouTube channel.
Participants can join from Golfzon stores nationwide by connecting to the network play function and competing against Kim in real time on the same course. The event will be played as an 18-hole stroke play round at SkyView Country Club. Players must log in as Golfzon members and enter the "Volvik Apparel Pro vs. Amateur" room. Up to 2,000 players can connect simultaneously.
The event marks the fourth collaboration among Golfzon, Volvik Apparel and Kim, and the second time the network play format has been used for a head-to-head competition, following last year's edition.
Kim has reached the top of the game on both the screen and the course. He holds a record 16 wins on Golfzon's G Tour and has claimed three career victories on the KPGA Tour. In 2024, he won the GS Caltex MK Open, and last month he finished in the top 10 at the KPGA Golfzon Open.
Prizes will be awarded to participants based on Kim's hole-by-hole scores during the round. Trophies will also be presented according to final standings, participation prizes are prepared as well, and a separate event will be held for viewers watching the YouTube livestream.
"We are delighted to present a variety of events with Volvik Apparel and Kim Hong-taek, a pro who has been excelling on both the course and the screen," said Son Jang-sun, head of Golfzon's new business division. "We will continue to develop diverse golf content and strive to bring the joy of golf to even more fans."
