Dalseo-gu in Daegu will run a mental wellness pop-up library event called "Dodohan Library" at Dowon Library on Saturday to promote emotional health and healing among residents.
The centerpiece of the event, a special lecture by Professor Park Sang-mi, will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the audiovisual room on the third floor of Dowon Library.
Park, a professor at Hanyang University's graduate school, will speak on the theme "How to build strong mental muscles." A musical performance by the Ribevol Ensemble will precede the lecture.
Beyond the lecture, a range of psychological experience programs will be offered throughout the library.
Activities open to all ages include a mental health campaign run in partnership with the Dalseo-gu Mental Health Welfare Center, a mindfulness transcription session and worry-doll making workshop, a family communication horticultural therapy program featuring companion plants, and a ceramics-based psychological therapy session.
Advance registration for the lecture and select programs is available through the Dalseo-gu Public Library website. For further details, residents may contact the Dowon Library team under the lifelong education division.
Dalseo-gu District Mayor Kim Yong-pan said he hopes the event will give residents a chance to tend to their mental health and find warmth and rest. "We will continue to expand a variety of cultural and welfare programs that can nurture well-being and bring happiness closer to residents' daily lives," he said.
