Campaign targets courier drivers and logistics workers at Lotte's southeastern delivery center
Local fire department joins safety education on facility management and vehicle fire prevention
The Korea Labor Foundation distributed 500 vehicle fire extinguishers and conducted safety training for workers at delivery and logistics sites as part of its autumn fire prevention efforts.
The foundation visited the Lotte Delivery southeastern center in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on Monday to hold a fire prevention campaign for courier drivers and logistics center workers.
The campaign was organized to address autumn fire risks, including dry weather conditions and vehicle overloads caused by rising cargo volumes. The foundation handed out vehicle fire extinguishers to on-site workers and, together with the local fire department, conducted safety education on logistics facility management and delivery vehicle fire prevention.
Representatives from labor and management in the courier industry — including the National Courier Industry Workers' Union and the Korea Lifestyle Logistics Courier Service Association — also attended, pledging support for fire prevention and the spread of a safety culture at worksites.
The activity is part of the foundation's year-round outreach initiative, which brings safety support directly to worksites. Following a summer campaign in which the foundation distributed bottled water and ran heat illness prevention programs for delivery and logistics workers exposed to extreme heat, it has continued to tailor its safety support to seasonal risks.
For autumn, the foundation is running a range of field-focused safety activities under the slogan "Clear autumn skies, clear safety" — including health consultations for vulnerable workers, motorcycle safety inspections for mobile workers, and the distribution of fire prevention supplies.
"Safety and fire prevention at delivery and logistics sites are core priorities directly tied to workers' lives," said Park Jong-pil, secretary general of the Korea Labor Foundation. "We will not overlook even the smallest hazard, and we will continue to strengthen our on-site, tailored safety support so that every worker can do their job with peace of mind."
