Cheong Wa Dae said Monday that renovation work on the presidential residence facilities is in its final stages, as preparations continue for President Lee Jae Myung and his wife to move in. In a press notice, it added that "no date has yet been set" for the move to the Cheong Wa Dae residence.
It went on to say that the move is expected to take place before the end of the year, following building commissioning tests and other preparations.
President Lee has been staying at the Hannam-dong presidential residence — originally arranged by former President Yoon Suk Yeol — since taking office in June, as construction work on the Cheong Wa Dae residence has been delayed.
The presidential office relocated from Yongsan to Cheong Wa Dae in December last year, leaving Lee to commute daily between Hannam-dong and Cheong Wa Dae.
