Daegu Haany University's Career Development Center held the launch ceremony for its second-semester 2026 G-Belt-linked Glocal Specialized Girin Challenge Semester program at the on-campus Glocal Pavilion on Sept. 30, the university announced Monday. About 300 students, faculty advisers and university officials attended.
The event was organized to share the goals and vision of the Girin Challenge Semester program, which links students with local campuses in Gyeongsan, Cheongdo, Yeongdeok and Uiseong through the G-Belt network. Under the program, students carry out field assignments in those communities to build major-specific competencies and problem-solving skills.
The ceremony was structured as a festival-style event combining career and employment support with local cultural experiences, broadening student participation and interaction.
During the formal proceedings, a student representative delivered a pledge of commitment and received activity uniforms. Academic Vice President Nam Mi-gyeong and Career and Employment Office Director Kim Hong then offered words of encouragement for the students' growth and challenges ahead.
A mini talk show featuring G-Belt local campus directors was also held, where participants shared the aims and operational direction of the community-linked curriculum.
Additional programs included "Jinro Talk," the Career Development Center's hands-on career exploration session, an exhibition of department-specific challenge projects, and a student aspiration dashboard activity.
Food pop-up booths showcasing regional specialties — jujube tea from Gyeongsan, cream cheese dried persimmon rolls from Cheongdo, snow crab bread from Yeongdeok and black garlic bread from Uiseong — gave students a direct taste of local culture.
"This launch ceremony is a starting point for students to discover the value of their local communities and chart their own career paths," Career Development Center Director Park Suk-ja said. "We will actively support students so that their major competencies can lead to regional settlement and shared growth."
