New fund bets on growth across the AI agent ecosystem
Actively managed structure allows rapid response to AI industry trends
As the global AI market continues to evolve amid the rapid spread of AI agents, a new investment product targeting the sector has arrived.
Samsung Asset Management announced Tuesday the listing of the KODEX US AI Agent Active ETF, a new exchange-traded fund that concentrates its investments in AI agent-related companies.
AI agents go beyond simply processing user requests — they independently understand task objectives, plan the necessary steps and execute them to produce results. As AI agents begin to play a role across a wide range of everyday activities, the AI industry's center of gravity is shifting beyond memory chips, CPUs and other semiconductors toward real-world service implementation.
The KODEX US AI Agent Active ETF invests in key US companies that make up the AI agent industry ecosystem, benchmarked against the Indxx US AI Agents index. Its top three holdings — Meta, which recently launched its "Muse" AI agent service; Palantir, which builds AI agent work environments; and cybersecurity leader Palo Alto Networks — together account for approximately 47 percent of the portfolio.
Because the fund is actively managed, its allocation weights are adjusted flexibly based on market conditions and the growth potential of individual companies. The fund aims to generate excess returns by quickly reflecting market changes such as the launch of new AI agents.
The ETF also invests in companies across sectors that AI agents require to function in real-world applications — including cloud computing, data, semiconductors, power infrastructure and payments. Rather than concentrating on any particular industry or company, the fund takes a diversified approach to the growth potential of the AI agent ecosystem as a whole.
"AI agents are at the center of the AI industry's rapid expansion beyond infrastructure buildout into actual workplace applications," said Han Dong-hoon, a fund manager at Samsung Asset Management. "This ETF invests across the AI ecosystem in a diversified manner while using active management to respond to the fast-changing trends of the AI market."
Samsung Asset Management's KoAct US NASDAQ Growth Companies Active ETF, which invests in leading NASDAQ companies driving the AI industry, recently ranked first in returns among ETFs tracking the NASDAQ index — posting a one-month return of 10.96 percent, a year-to-date return of 40.39 percent and a one-year return of 48.11 percent, all tops in its category.
