Yeongcheon City in North Gyeongsang Province held a strategy meeting Tuesday at the city hall conference room to review progress on securing national funding for 2027 and identify new policy initiatives for 2028. The vice mayor, bureau and division chiefs, and department heads attended.
The meeting was convened to assess the status of efforts to secure national budget allocations for 2027 and to proactively prepare new policy initiatives for 2028 in line with central government and provincial policy directions.
Participants shared updates on each department's consultations with central ministries and North Gyeongsang Province, along with any challenges encountered. They also discussed the necessity and feasibility of proposed new initiatives and explored ways to link them with national and provincial funding as well as competitive grant programs.
Key projects targeted for national funding include environmental improvements and infrastructure upgrades around major tourism attractions, a community revitalization project in Geumho-eup, and waterworks construction at Yonggye-ri in Hwanam-myeon and two other sites. New initiatives proposed for 2028 include the development of a national industrial complex centered on future structural technologies in Yeongcheon and a project to overhaul the city's aging water pipe network.
"To secure national funding, we must refine our project plans in line with government policy directions and thoroughly prepare in advance — coordinating with relevant agencies and completing all necessary procedures," Yeongcheon Mayor Kim Byeong-sam said. "Please work actively to identify projects that will make a real difference in residents' daily lives and ensure they translate into secured national funding."
