A 38-year-old employee of the Dongdaemun-gu district office in Seoul died Wednesday after falling from the ninth floor of the district office building.
According to the district office, the civil servant, identified only by the surname A, fell at around 2:07 p.m. Wednesday. The employee worked in the district's safety and disaster management division.
The district office said it had not yet determined the cause of the death. The employee had been preparing for a national safety drill scheduled for Friday.
In response, Dongdaemun-gu canceled an expanded senior staff meeting that District Mayor Choi Dong-min had been set to chair Thursday, replacing it with a written meeting.
