Hyundai Department Store partners with travel logistics firm for airport and hotel delivery
Global VIP lounge to open at the store in January
Hyundai Department Store announced Thursday that it is launching a concierge service at The Hyundai Seoul that delivers foreign visitors' luggage directly to airports and hotels.
"The Hyundai Seoul previously offered only a free luggage storage service, but with the addition of same-day delivery, we expect shopping convenience for foreign customers to improve significantly," a Hyundai Department Store official said.
To provide the service, Hyundai Department Store has partnered with Goodluck Company, a global travel logistics startup. Luggage can be sent to the company's storage centers at Incheon and Gimpo international airports, as well as to any hotel nationwide that offers on-site pickup.
Customers can sign up for the service at the tourist desk on the first floor of The Hyundai Seoul. Scanning a QR code at the desk connects to the Goodluck Company app, where suitcases and shopping bags can be registered for delivery. The app supports four languages: Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese.
For deliveries within Seoul, items dropped off before 3 p.m. will arrive by 7 p.m. the same day, while those submitted between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. will be delivered by 10 p.m. Outside Seoul, items registered before noon will be delivered by 10 p.m. the same day.
Suitcase delivery starts at 24,500 won ($18), with additional charges for destinations outside Seoul based on distance. Shopping bag delivery within Seoul costs 16,900 won per item regardless of size. Customers can also track their items in real time via a tracking link.
Foreign visitor numbers at The Hyundai Seoul rose more than 67 percent year-on-year in the first nine months of this year. Sales from foreign customers grew 135 percent over the same period, with international shoppers now accounting for 25 percent of total sales.
Hyundai Department Store is stepping up services for foreign customers. In January, it plans to open a Personal Shopping Room — a dedicated space for global VIP customers — at The Hyundai Seoul, as part of an effort to upgrade its premium concierge offerings.
"We designed this service so that foreign customers can enjoy K-shopping and culture without the burden of carrying luggage, in keeping with The Hyundai Seoul's standing as a destination for visitors from more than 180 countries," said Yoon Tae-seon, head of the sales planning team at The Hyundai Seoul.
