Grandmother appears in dream, then lottery buyer wins 1st and 2nd prize at once

A lottery buyer who dreamed of his late grandmother ended up winning both first and second prize on the same ticket.

Dong Haeng Lottery recently shared the story of a winner identified only as A, who claimed both the first- and second-prize draws in the 335th round of the Pension Lottery 720+.

A had been on his way home after watching a film with family when he felt a sudden urge to buy a lottery ticket. He stopped at a lottery retailer in Junwon-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and purchased both a Pension Lottery ticket and a Lotto ticket.

About 10 days later, while home alone, A suddenly remembered the tickets and decided to check whether he had won.

To his astonishment, he had won both first and second prize in the Pension Lottery 720+.

"I was so shocked in that moment that I couldn't believe it — I thought I might be dreaming, so I slapped myself in the face about 20 times," he recalled. "The pain told me it wasn't a dream, but I still couldn't take it in, so I held the ticket up to the light and checked it again."

Even after confirming the win, A struggled to accept it as real. He searched the Dong Haeng Lottery website for the retailer that had sold the winning first-prize ticket, and only when he saw his own store listed did the reality finally sink in.

He then shared the news with his parents. "They hugged me and cried tears of joy," he said. "I always thought this kind of luck only happened to other people. The fact that it happened to me still feels surreal, and I'm just so grateful."

A said the most vivid dream he could recall recently was one in which his late grandmother appeared looking healthy and well. He added that he had long made a habit of buying Lotto, Pension Lottery and Speetto tickets every week in hopes of a win.

As for how he plans to spend the prize money, A said he intends to save it first and think carefully about what to do with it.

The Pension Lottery 720+ pays out winnings in monthly installments: first-prize winners receive 7 million won ($5,230) a month for 20 years, while second-prize winners receive 1 million won a month for 10 years. A's total winnings come to 2.16 billion won — 1.68 billion won from the first prize and 480 million won from the second.
