The Gwangyang Bay Free Economic Zone Authority announced Thursday that it is actively pursuing investment at the 2026 International Maritime Energy Plant Industry Exhibition, which runs Wednesday through Friday at Bexco in Busan.
The exhibition is South Korea's only specialized trade show dedicated to shipbuilding, maritime energy and plant industries, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the city of Busan.
More than 170 companies from 15 countries, including global shipbuilders, are participating in the event and operating 600 booths. Exhibitors are showcasing technologies and products spanning eco-friendly and low-carbon solutions, AI, automation and other digital transformation areas across the shipbuilding, maritime plant and offshore energy sectors, along with related equipment and components.
The authority has set up a joint promotional booth with anchor companies in the maritime energy plant sector already based in the zone, highlighting the investment environment and move-in conditions at key industrial complexes in the Gwangyang Bay area, including the Sepung and Hwanggeum industrial complexes and the Galsa Bay industrial complex in the Hadong district.
The booth features scale models of offshore wind-related products from Hyundai Steel Industries at the Yulchon industrial complex, as well as an offshore wind-linked system from MSL Technology, showcasing the competitiveness of the Gwangyang Bay area's maritime energy plant industry.
The Gwangyang Bay zone is home to a robust industrial ecosystem of maritime energy plant companies, including Hyundai Steel Industries, Hanwha Ocean Ecotech, EEW, SeAH Steel, Hyundai Steel, Hanla IMS, DSR Wire and CS Energy.
"We will use this exhibition as a springboard to actively attract promising companies and secure future growth engines for the Gwangyang Bay area," said Gwangyang Bay Free Economic Zone Authority Commissioner Gu Chung-gon.
