HD Hyundai Electric announced Friday that it signed a mutual cooperation MOU with LG CNS on Thursday at HD Hyundai's Global R&D Center in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, covering data center power infrastructure and smart factory development.

HD Hyundai Electric CEO Kim Young-ki and LG CNS CEO Hyun Shin-kyun attended the signing ceremony along with senior officials from both companies.

The agreement combines HD Hyundai Electric's expertise in power equipment and distribution systems with LG CNS's capabilities in data center design, construction, operation and digital technology to identify new business opportunities and strengthen each company's competitive position.

In the AI data center segment, the two companies plan to build a system for supplying HD Hyundai Electric's power and distribution equipment as integrated packages, and will jointly pursue project proposals and marketing in domestic and overseas power infrastructure markets.

They will also integrate LG CNS's AI, cloud and data technologies into HD Hyundai Electric's power monitoring platform to improve operational efficiency at data centers. In smart manufacturing, HD Hyundai Electric will provide LG CNS with on-site production data, which LG CNS will apply to manufacturing AI, logistics automation and process automation systems.

Through technology exchange and pilot programs, the companies plan to raise production and logistics automation rates at HD Hyundai Electric's Cheongju distribution campus and build an integrated equipment monitoring system to advance smart factory manufacturing capabilities. They also intend to extend the smart manufacturing model to overseas production sites, including in the United States, to standardize operational standards across global facilities.

"Through our cooperation with LG CNS, we will enhance the operational efficiency of data center power infrastructure and expand business collaboration to secure future growth engines," Kim said.

"We will support the digital transformation of manufacturing sites based on AI, cloud and data technologies, and broaden the scope of cooperation between our two companies to create business opportunities together in the global market," Hyun said.
