The 31st Suncheon Nagan Eupseong Folk Culture Festival opens Oct. 24
Visitors who wear hanbok to Nagan Eupseong in Suncheon will be admitted free of charge from Friday through Nov. 15, a promotion timed to the opening of the 31st Suncheon Nagan Eupseong Folk Culture Festival on Oct. 24.
The initiative aims to highlight the traditional appeal of Nagan Eupseong, a fortress with 600 years of history, and to give tourists a chance to experience its beauty alongside the traditional Korean garment.
Nagan Eupseong is well known as a picturesque spot for strolling and taking photos in hanbok, with its well-preserved fortress walls, thatched-roof houses and atmospheric stone-paved lanes.
Free admission applies to visitors wearing a complete set of traditional hanbok — both the top and bottom garments.
Those wearing an incomplete outfit — such as only a skirt over everyday clothing or attire that does not constitute proper hanbok — will not qualify for free entry.
Visitors can enjoy a range of traditional cultural programs, including the folk culture festival and regular weekend performances, while taking in the autumn atmosphere of Nagan Eupseong in hanbok.
"We hope you will create beautiful, unforgettable memories with your family, loved ones and friends at Nagan Eupseong, surrounded by autumn flowers and ginkgo trees," an official at the Nagan Eupseong Support Project Office said.
