The festival, held Saturday at Wooshin High School, brought together youth and residents for band and vocal competitions, dance performances, and career and science experiences
Guro-gu's "2026 11th Guro Youth Festival" wrapped up Saturday at Wooshin High School's athletic field, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of young participants.
Held under the theme "Take off from the everyday, land in healing," the festival drew about 11,700 youth, parents and local residents, who enjoyed performances and took part in a wide range of hands-on activities.
District Mayor Jang In-hong said at the opening ceremony that he hoped participants would "set aside the burdens of daily life for the day, freely show off your passion and talent, and recharge with positive energy." He added that the district would continue to support young people in nurturing their dreams and growing up healthy through diverse experiences.
Young performers were the stars of the stage. Thirteen teams competed in a band and vocal contest, while nine groups took the stage for dance performances, drawing sustained applause and cheers from the audience.
Guest singers VNX, Bbgirls and Wonsstein added to the festive atmosphere with special performances.
The fun extended well beyond the main stage. Youth explored various careers and emerging technologies at a career fair, and participated in science programs prepared by local students at a student science exhibition. Woodworking, baking and traditional games were among the many other hands-on activities on offer.
The festival carried added significance this year as youth were directly involved in its planning and operation. Students took part in the preparation process, and the youth representative council chose the festival's official slogan, shaping the event to reflect their own vision.
