Running 11 days from Wednesday at the Busan Student Education and Culture Center and Yeongdo Nolimaru, the event invites students to express inner voices through visual art under the theme 'Show Me Your Sound'
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced Monday that the 2026 Busan Student Biennale will be held from Wednesday through Nov. 11 at the Busan Student Education and Culture Center, Yeongdo Nolimaru and other venues.
Themed "Show Me Your Sound," the biennale is designed as a creative arts education platform where students translate their inner thoughts, feelings, imagination and stories — their "sounds" — into visual artistic language through color, line, form and movement.
The opening ceremony Wednesday at 3 p.m. will begin with a lecture-concert at the Student Education and Culture Center by curator-cellist Yoon Ji-won. The lecture-concert, themed "Joseon Picnic," presents stories of Joseon-era art through music performed with a fusion traditional music band.
Exhibition programs — including a convergence art show, an art class exhibition and a student artist showcase — will run throughout the event at the Gyomun Gallery of the Student Education and Culture Center and the Gallery Watch at Yeongdo Nolimaru.
The convergence art show will feature work from 50 schools that ran convergence art competition programs over the past year, presenting the results of educational activities that blend art with various other disciplines. The art class exhibition will bring together pieces from 14 schools, showcasing the fruits of classroom art activities that each carry the students' own voices.
The student artist showcase will feature invited student artists Kim Ha-min and Son Woo-jin, who will display story-driven works aimed at inspiring and motivating fellow students.
A teacher workshop will also be held Saturday afternoon at Nolimaru in Jeonpo-dong, where elementary, middle and high school teachers will share examples of how they have led arts classes and explore new possibilities for arts education together.
"We are delighted to reunite with these vibrant artistic moments — where students' free imagination and expression come to life — for the first time in two years," Superintendent of Education Kim Seok-jun said. "We will spare no effort in supporting students as they grow into individuals with emotional creativity and well-rounded character."
