The Haenam-gun Education Foundation is launching two youth programs aimed at building creative problem-solving skills and career awareness among local students.

The first, a coding and robotics program titled "e-Smart Coding World," will run every Wednesday from Nov. 11 to Dec. 2 — four sessions in total — at the Haenam-gun Lifelong Learning Center. Open to up to 20 students from fourth grade through middle school, the program gives participants hands-on experience building and controlling robots using Internet of Things, software and hardware technologies.

Students will assemble and operate a smart spider robot, a bipedal walking robot, a smart RC car and a Minion interactive robot, gaining an understanding of how robots work while developing creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

Alongside this, a one-night, two-day family career exploration camp will be held Nov. 21 to 22 at Gwangju National University of Education. The camp is open to up to 20 participants — upper-grade elementary and middle school students along with their parents — and will offer career exploration activities, future-job experience sessions and family career coaching.

Participants will take career assessment tests and engage in strength-discovery activities to help students identify their aptitudes and interests. Sessions on emerging technologies including AI, along with family counseling and coaching, will give parents and children dedicated time to discuss and map out future career directions together.

Registration for the coding and robotics program runs from Oct. 12 to Nov. 1, while sign-ups for the family career camp are open from Oct. 19 through Nov. 6. Full details and application instructions are available on the Haenam-gun Education Foundation website.

"We hope this program gives young people a chance to take on new challenges and discover their own potential, and offers parents a meaningful opportunity to think through their children's dreams and futures together," a foundation official said. "We will continue to expand educational opportunities so that local youth can build the skills they need for the future through a wide range of experiences."
