Five-part youth fantasy series 'Namhaeboda Meon Sai' debuts on official YouTube channel Gyeongnam TV, featuring six cities and counties along the South Sea coast
South Gyeongsang Province released the first episode of "Namhaeboda Meon Sai," a youth fantasy web drama series built around storytelling-driven tourism, on its official YouTube channel Gyeongnam TV on Tuesday.
Rather than simply introducing tourism attractions along the South Gyeongsang coast, the series weaves major destinations into a fantasy and coming-of-age story following two university students. The five-part production launched a teaser on Oct. 14, followed by the first episode Tuesday. The remaining four episodes will be released weekly every Tuesday on the Gyeongnam TV YouTube channel.
Filming locations span six cities and counties along the South Gyeongsang coast, anchored by Changwon National University and the Changwon Football Center. The series visits Mireuksan Cable Car, the Dongpirang mural village, Ganggu-an harbor and a yacht experience in Tongyeong; Baramui Eondeok (Wind Hill), a kayaking experience and Maemi Castle in Geoje; Daraengi Village and the German Village in Namhae; Sangjonam County Park in Goseong; and Choyangdo island and the Sacheon-ai facility in Sacheon.
The protagonists are students in the aerospace engineering and intelligent robotics convergence engineering departments at Changwon National University, a choice that allows the series to highlight the province's glocal university specialized programs and its vision for future industries. The province plans to use the series to showcase the varied appeal of the South Gyeongsang coast to young viewers and potential tourists, particularly the MZ generation — millennials and Generation Z — who are accustomed to video content.
"We will continue to promote the charms of South Gyeongsang Province in diverse ways so that young people can naturally discover its tourist destinations while enjoying the content and be inspired to visit in person," said Jang Su-hwan, the province's public relations officer.
